Celsiella is a small group of amazing glass frogs that live only in Venezuela. These tiny frogs are special because their skin is so clear you can sometimes see their insides! The genus Celsiella was officially named in 2009. It was given this name to honor a Venezuelan scientist named Josefa Celsa Señaris, who is often called "Celsi." She has done a lot of important work studying glass frogs.

What Do Celsiella Frogs Look Like?
These glass frogs have a unique look. The skin on their belly (which scientists call the ventral parietal peritoneum) is white towards the front. But towards the back, it's clear! This means you can see through part of their belly. Their bones are also a cool pale green or green color.
Male Celsiella frogs make calls from leaves. Female Celsiella frogs lay their eggs on the top or bottom of leaves. Scientists think that the male frogs might even guard their eggs after they are laid.
How Celsiella Frogs Are Grouped
Scientists use special information, like genetic data, to group animals. This data strongly supports that all Celsiella frogs belong together in one group. They are also different in how they look from a similar group of frogs called Hyalinobatrachium.
Frogs in the Hyalinobatrachium group have bellies that are completely clear. Their livers are white, and their bones are also white. Celsiella frogs, however, have a mix of white and clear skin on their bellies, and their bones are green. The Celsiella group was created in 2009, and the types of species in it haven't changed since then.
Species of Celsiella
There are two known species in the Celsiella group:
- Celsiella revocata (Rivero, 1985)
- Celsiella vozmedianoi (Ayarzagüena and Señaris, 1997)
