Centenario is found right on Route 5. This is an important road in Uruguay. The town sits on the banks of the Río Negro river. It is directly across the river from Paso de los Toros. Paso de los Toros is a town in the Tacuarembó Department. Centenario is about 66 kilometers (about 41 miles) north of the city of Durazno.
