The Central Slovenia Statistical Region (called Osrednjeslovenska statistična regija in Slovenian) is a special area in the middle of Slovenia. It's one of the country's 12 statistical regions. Think of it like a big county or district used for collecting information and planning. This region is home to Ljubljana, which is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It's a very important part of the country!

The municipality of Litija used to be part of this region. But on January 1, 2015, it became part of the Central Sava Statistical Region instead.

Fun Facts About the Region

This region is the most populated in Slovenia. It has over 535,000 people living there, based on numbers from 2015. It's also a very important economic area. The region produces a lot of goods and services, which is measured by something called the Regional GDP (Gross Domestic Product). In 2017, it was about 13.875 billion Euros!

The Central Slovenia Statistical Region also has a very high Human Development Index (HDI). This index measures how well people are doing in terms of health, education, and living standards. With an HDI of 0.930 in 2017, it was ranked first among all Slovenian regions, meaning people generally have a very good quality of life here.
