The Centre Region is a large area in the country of Cameroon. Its main city and capital is Yaoundé. Yaoundé is also the capital city for all of Cameroon!

This region is home to important rivers like the Sanaga River, which is the biggest one. Other rivers include the Djérem, Lom, and Nyong. You can also find the Mfou Reserve here. This special place helps protect many different kinds of birds, monkeys, and snakes.

How the Region is Organized

The Centre Region is divided into ten smaller parts called departments. Think of them like counties or districts within a state. Each department has its own main town or capital city.

Here are the departments and their capitals:

  • Lekié, with its capital at Monatélé
  • Haute-Sanaga, with its capital Nanga Eboko
  • Mbam-et-Inoubou, with its capital at Bafia
  • Mbam-et-Kim, with its capital at Ntui
  • Méfou-et-Afamba, with its capital at Mfou
  • Méfou-et-Akono, with its capital at Ngoumou
  • Mfoundi is special because it's entirely the Yaoundé capital city and its surrounding area.
  • Nyong-et-Kéllé, with its capital at Eséka
  • Nyong-et-Mfoumou, with its capital at Akonolinga
  • Nyong-et-So'o, with its capital at Mbalmayo
