Century 21 Real Estate LLC is a well-known American company that helps people buy and sell homes. It started in 1971 and works like a "franchise." This means many smaller, independent real estate offices around the world use the Century 21 name and system.

Today, there are about 14,000 of these offices in 86 countries. Over 147,000 sales professionals work for Century 21. The company's main office is in Madison, New Jersey, in the United States.

How Century 21 Started

Century 21 Real Estate was created in 1971 by two real estate agents. Their names were Art Bartlett and Marsh Fisher. They started the company in Orange County, California.

They wanted a name that sounded like it had been around for a long time. They also wanted it to sound modern. They decided on "Century 21" because it felt both established and futuristic.

Over the years, Century 21 was owned by different companies. In 1979, Trans World Corporation bought it. Then, in 1985, MetLife took over. In 1995, Hospitality Franchise Systems (which later became Cendant) bought Century 21. Finally, in 2006, Century 21 became part of Realogy, which is now called Anywhere Real Estate.

"The Joy of Home" Campaign

In November 2024, Century 21 Real Estate started a new worldwide marketing effort. They called it "The Joy of Home." A marketing campaign is a plan to share a company's message with many people.

Century 21 wanted to show that buying a home is about more than just a building. It's about feeling connected to a community. The campaign used messages and pictures that felt more personal and "human."
