How Ceramica Started and Ended
Building the Museum
The Ceramica museum was created with help from the National Lottery. This money came from a special group called the Millennium Commission. A group of people called a Trust managed the museum.
Why Ceramica Closed
Sadly, Ceramica closed its doors in March 2011. Fewer people were visiting the museum. This happened after some nearby pottery factories closed down. The Trust that ran the museum was then closed. The buildings went back to the City Council.
What Happened to the Building?
Today, the main building, the old Town Hall, has a new purpose. It is now home to Haywood Academy sixth form college. A newer part of the museum was taken down. It was too expensive to fix.
