Ceres is a town in Santa Fe Province, Argentina. It is a municipality in the San Cristóbal Department. In 2001, about 16,054 people lived there. The town is located about 266 kilometers (165 miles) northwest of Santa Fe, the capital city of the province.
Ceres is only about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the border with Santiago del Estero Province. Because of this, it shares many cultural, social, and business connections with that area.
The town is an important transport hub. It sits on National Route 34 and Provincial Route 17. Ceres also has a railway connection. Trains carry goods like minerals, cereals, and other cargo. They also carry passengers. This helps move many products from Argentina's Northwest region to the port of Rosario.
