Cerro Colorado is a fascinating stratovolcano located in northern Chile. It stands about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) west of the border with Bolivia. This volcano is also close to the Putana Volcano, which is about the same distance to its southwest.
Cerro Colorado is part of a larger group of mountains called the Sairecabur volcanic group. It sits just west of Cerro Curiquinca and northwest of volcán Escalante (El Apagado). These three mountains are all connected as part of this impressive volcanic chain.
