Cerro Tres Kandú is the highest point in Paraguay. It is also known as Cerro Peró. In the Guaraní language, people call it Tres Kandu or Perõ. This tall hill reaches 842 meters (about 2,762 feet) into the sky.
You can find Cerro Tres Kandú in the Guairá Department of Paraguay. It is located near the town of General Eugenio Garay. This important hill is part of a group of hills called the Ybytyruzú range.
Why Cerro Tres Kandú Is Important
For a long time, Cerro Tres Kandú was a very important place for the country. It was used by the Armed Forces of Paraguay. They placed special radio equipment there. This equipment helped them communicate across long distances. It was a strategic spot for their radio signals.
The national electricity company, ANDE, also used the hill. They had their own radio communication tools on Cerro Tres Kandú. These tools helped them manage the electricity network. Today, these old installations are no longer used.
