A Special Bill: The George Stinney Fund
In January 2022, Cezar McKnight introduced an important bill. A bill is a proposed law. This bill was named after George Stinney. George Stinney was a 14-year-old Black boy who was wrongly executed in 1944.
McKnight's bill was called the George Stinney Fund. It suggested that the state of South Carolina should pay $10 million. This money would go to the families of people who were wrongly executed. This would happen if their conviction was later found to be wrong. This bill aimed to help make things right for families who suffered a great injustice.
