This article tells you about the Prime Ministers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Prime Minister is like the leader of the government in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina suggests who should be Prime Minister. Then, the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (which is like their main law-making group) officially chooses them. Even though the Prime Minister leads the government, they don't pick all the other ministers (the people in charge of different government departments). Instead, the main political parties choose these ministers. They make sure people from different groups and parts of the country are included.
Nermin Nikšić is the current Prime Minister. He is the 8th person to hold this important job. He started his role on April 28, 2023, after the 2022 general election.
What Does a Prime Minister Do?
The Prime Minister represents the Federal Government. They have several important jobs:
- They make sure the government's plans are followed.
- They also ensure that the laws are put into action.
- They help make sure the decisions of the courts are carried out.
- They can suggest removing the Federal President if needed.
- They propose new laws and give advice on them.
- They prepare the money plan (budget) for the Federal Parliament to approve.
