History of Chalybeate Springs

Around the year 1900, the Chalybeate Springs area was a very popular place to visit. People believed the spring water, which contained special iron salts called chalybeate, could help them feel healthier. It was a well-known resort where people would come to relax and try the waters.

By 2010, most of the old resort was gone. Only an old spring house remained. This spring house was first closed during World War II. On June 11, 2016, a special sign was put up. This Kentucky Historical Marker shares information about the old resort. You can find it where KY 101 and KY 3611 meet.
