Where is Chamizo Located?
Chamizo is in central Uruguay. It sits right where two important roads meet: Route 6 and Route 94. This spot is about 87 kilometers (around 54 miles) away from Montevideo, which is the capital city of Uruguay.
Chamizo's History
Chamizo officially became a "Pueblo," which means a village, on November 21, 1931. This happened when a special law, called Ley Nº 8.796, was passed. This law helped to organize and recognize the village.

In 2011, about 540 people lived in Chamizo. The number of people living in the village has changed over the years. For example, in 1908, there were many more people, but the population has varied since then.
