Where is Champara Located?

Champara is found in the Ancash Region of Peru. More specifically, it is in the Huaylas Province, within the Yuracmarca District. If you were to look at a map, you would see Champara located to the southeast of a lake called Quyllurqucha. This area is known for its stunning mountain landscapes and clear lakes.

The mountain Champara reaches an elevation of 5,735 meters (which is about 18,816 feet) above sea level. To give you an idea, that's almost as tall as some of the highest mountains in North America! Its height makes it a significant peak in the Andes.

First Climbers

Climbing a mountain like Champara is a big challenge. The first known ascent of Champara happened in January 1936. Climbers reached the top by following a route along the mountain's west ridge and north face. This was a remarkable achievement for its time.
