A post office opened in Chandler in 1885. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This one served the community for many years, until it closed down in 1947.

The name "Chandler" was chosen to honor a man named John N. Chandler. He was an officer during the American Civil War, a big war fought in the United States from 1861 to 1865.
