Chankuwaña is a tall mountain in the Andes mountain range in Peru. It stands about 5,331 meters (17,490 feet) high. This impressive peak is part of the Wansu mountain range.
The name Chankuwaña comes from the Aymara language. It means "to throw something so that people can scramble or fight for it." You might also see its name spelled as Chancoaña, Chancohuana, Chancohuaña, or Chancohuañachico.
Where is Chankuwaña Located?
Chankuwaña is found in two different regions of Peru. Part of the mountain is in the Apurímac Region. Specifically, it's in the Antabamba Province and the Oropesa District.
The other part of the mountain is in the Cusco Region. Here, it's located in the Chumbivilcas Province and the Santo Tomás District.
It is situated north of a mountain called Waytani. It is also southeast of another mountain named Wayunka.
