The Huanzo mountain range is a group of mountains in the Andes mountains of Peru. It might get its name from the Quechua language word Wansu. This mountain range stretches for about 57 kilometers (35 miles).
It is located across several regions in Peru. These include the Apurímac Region, the Arequipa Region, the Ayacucho Region, and the Cusco Region.
Tallest Mountains in Huanzo
The Huanzo mountain range is home to many tall peaks. The highest mountain in this range is Waych'awi, also known as Hatun Waych'awi. It stands at an impressive height of 5,445 meters (17,864 feet) above sea level.
Other important mountains in the range include:
- Waytani, which is 5,430 meters (17,815 feet) tall.
- Waqrawiri, reaching 5,425 meters (17,799 feet).
- Waña, at 5,400 meters (17,717 feet).
- Allqa Walusa, standing 5,334 meters (17,500 feet) high.
- Chankuwaña, with a height of 5,331 meters (17,490 feet).
- Yana Yana, which is 5,321 meters (17,457 feet) tall.
- Wachu Willka, reaching 5,315 meters (17,438 feet).
- Qullpa K'uchu, at 5,300 meters (17,388 feet).
- Wamanripa, also 5,300 meters (17,388 feet) high.
There are many other peaks in the Huanzo range that are over 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) tall. These mountains are part of the amazing Andes mountain system.
Lakes in the Range
The Huanzo mountain range also has beautiful lakes. One of the largest lakes in this area is Lake Ecma. These lakes are often fed by melting snow and ice from the surrounding peaks.
