Chanté Torrane Moore (born February 17, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter, TV star, and author. She became famous in the early 1990s as a talented R&B singer.
Her first album, Precious, came out in 1992. It sold very well and became a gold record in the United States. This album included popular R&B songs like "Love's Taken Over" and "It's Alright". Her second album, A Love Supreme, was released in 1994.
In 1999, her third album, This Moment Is Mine, was released. It featured "Chanté's Got a Man", which became her most famous song. This song reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After that, she released several more solo albums and two albums with singer Kenny Lattimore.
Besides music, Chanté Moore also became a television personality. In 2013, she joined the reality TV show R&B Divas: Los Angeles. She was on the show for three seasons.

Early Life
Chanté Moore grew up in San Francisco, California. Her parents were Christian Evangelists, and she started singing in church at a young age. She was inspired by musicians like George Duke and Lee Ritenour.
Before becoming a singer, Moore was a beauty pageant contestant and a model. When she was 22, MCA Records executive Louil Silas discovered her talent.
Music Career
Starting Out and First Albums (1986–1995)
Chanté Moore was first signed by Benny Medina to Warner Bros. Records when she was 19. She recorded an album, but it was never released. In 1991, she signed with Silas Records.
Her first official album, Precious, was released on September 29, 1992. It featured songs produced by artists like George Duke. The album's first single, "Love's Taken Over", became a hit on the R&B charts. Another single, "It's Alright", also did well. The album was certified gold in 1994.
On November 15, 1994, Moore released her second album, A Love Supreme. She helped produce this album and co-wrote many of its songs. The song "Old School Lovin'" became a top 20 R&B hit. In 1995, Moore was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Waiting to Exhale.
Big Hits and New Sounds (1996–2002)
In 1999, Chanté Moore released her third album, This Moment Is Mine. The album's main song, "Chanté's Got a Man", was written for her husband at the time, Kadeem Hardison. This song became her biggest hit, reaching number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After her divorce from Hardison, Moore released Exposed in 2000. This album had a more modern R&B sound. In 2002, she won a Soul Train Music Award for "Contagious". This song was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
Duets and More Albums (2003–2012)
After marrying R&B singer Kenny Lattimore, they released a duet album together in 2003 called Things That Lovers Do. They promoted the album with a stage play and a music video.
In 2006, Moore and Lattimore released another duet album, Uncovered/Covered. This was a double album with both gospel and R&B love songs. In 2007, Moore also acted in a stage play called By Any Means Necessary.
In 2008, Moore released her fifth solo album, Love the Woman. She also performed in a live stage production called Gospel! Gospel! Gospel in 2009. In 2012, Moore performed a tribute to the late singer Donna Summer at the BET Awards.
Reality TV and Recent Music (2013–2021)
On January 1, 2013, Chanté Moore signed a new record deal. She released her sixth solo album, Moore Is More, on July 30, 2013.
In early 2013, Moore joined the cast of the reality TV show R&B Divas: Los Angeles. She filmed the show for three seasons. In 2014, she also performed in the famous Vegas show Jubilee!.
Moore released her self-help book, Will I Marry Me?, in August 2014. In 2015, she announced she was working on a new solo album.

In 2016, she released a new song called "Ghetto Love". In February 2017, she began touring with a play called Married But Single Too. That same month, she released "Real One". This song became her most successful in 17 years. Her seventh album, The Rise of the Phoenix, was released in September 2018.
Also in 2017, Moore released her first Christmas album, Christmas Back to You. In 2018, she released the single "One Love". In September 2021, Moore released the song "Right One".
Latest Projects (2022–present)
In November 2022, Chanté Moore celebrated 30 years since her first album, Precious. She performed a medley of her hits at the 2022 Soul Train Music Awards. In 2023, she announced she was working on her ninth studio album.
In May 2024, she took part in the Chinese reality show Singer 2024. This is a singing competition for professional singers.
Personal Life
In 1991, Chanté Moore married a childhood friend. She shared about this marriage and divorce in her 2014 book, Will I Marry Me?. She mentioned that they had dated in sixth grade and he was her first kiss. She said that after some difficult relationships, she decided to marry a friend, thinking it would be a smart choice.
In 1996, she and actor Kadeem Hardison welcomed their daughter, Sophia Hardison. They secretly married in 1997 but later divorced in 2000.
Moore married singer Kenny Lattimore on New Year's Day in 2002. Their son was born in 2003. In July 2011, Moore announced that she and Lattimore had divorced. Her older brother, Kelvin Gomillion, passed away in 2013.
On October 26, 2021, Moore announced her engagement to Stephen G. Hill, a former BET executive. The couple got married in Mexico on October 22, 2022.
