Kenny Lattimore (born April 10, 1970) is an American R&B and soul singer. He is famous for his smooth voice and romantic songs. Kenny became well-known in the mid-1990s. This happened after he released his first album, Kenny Lattimore.

Early Life and School

Kenny Lattimore was born in Washington, D.C., USA. He loved music from a young age. He sang in school and church choirs. He also joined the band program at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. Kenny often thanks Dr. Barbara Baker for helping him start his music journey. He also went to Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Music Career

Starting with Maniquin (1988–1991)

Kenny Lattimore first worked as a backup singer for an R&B group called Maniquin. Later, he became the main singer for the group. In 1989, Maniquin released their only album. It was also called Maniquin. The group's first song was "I Wanna Ride." Kenny soon left the group to start his own solo career. After he left, Maniquin broke up.

First Solo Albums (1994–1999)

In 1994, Kenny Lattimore signed with Columbia Records. He released his first solo album, Kenny Lattimore, in 1996. This album had two popular songs: "Never Too Busy" and "For You." "For You" was even nominated for a Grammy Award.

In 1996, Kenny won the Best New Artist award at the NAACP Image Awards. His first album also sold enough copies to become a Gold record. He then released his second album, From the Soul of Man, in 1998. This album included popular songs like "Days Like This" and "If I Lose My Woman." He also covered The Beatles' song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

New Music and Duets (2000–2006)

After a short break, Kenny Lattimore joined Arista Records. In 2001, he released a more modern R&B album called Weekend. The main song, "Weekend," used a sample from Blondie's song "Rapture." It became very popular on the radio.

Kenny is known for his exciting stage shows and powerful voice. He often sings romantic songs. The New York Times newspaper called him a "modern soul man" on stage. Kenny has said that he wants to show the "strong, but sensitive and caring side of Black men" through his music.

In 2003, Kenny and his then-wife, singer Chanté Moore, released a duet album. It was called Things That Lovers Do. This album featured classic soul songs from the 1970s and 1980s. It also had two new songs. The popular songs were "Loveable (From Your Head to Your Toes)" and a cover of "You Don't Have To Cry." Kenny and Chanté toured together to promote the album.

They released another album together in 2006, called Uncovered/Covered. This album reached number ten on the Billboard R&B Charts. It also reached number two on the Billboard Gospel Charts. Their cover of "You're All I Need to Get By" was used as the theme song for the BET reality show The Family Crews.

Recent Activities (2008–Present)

In 2008, Kenny Lattimore released a cover album called Timeless. The main song, "You Are My Starship," was originally sung by Norman Connor. Kenny also sang on the dance song "Another Love" by Brian Culbertson.

In 2012, Kenny started his own record company, SincereSoul Records. He released his album Back 2 Cool in 2013. The first song from the album was "Find a Way." The second song, "Back 2 Cool," featured singer Kelly Price.

Personal Life

In January 2002, Kenny Lattimore married singer Chanté Moore. Their son, Kenny Lattimore Jr., was born in April 2003. They later divorced in July 2011.

On March 8, 2020, Kenny married American judge Faith Jenkins. In late 2022, they announced they were expecting a child. Their daughter was born in January 2023.
