Charlene Mae Gonzales Bonnin-Muhlach (born May 1, 1974) is a well-known Filipino actress, TV personality, and beauty queen. She became famous after winning the Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1994 title. She then represented the Philippines at the Miss Universe 1994 pageant, which was held in Manila. During this competition, she won the Best National Costume award and made it to the Top 6 Finalists.
Charlene is also an award-winning talk show host. She has worked as a commercial model too.

Early Life and Family
Charlene Mae Gonzales Bonnin was born on May 1, 1974. Her father was the actor Bernard Bonnin, and her mother was a model named Elvira Gonzales. She has a brother, Richard Bonnin, who is also an actor. Her cousin, J.C. Bonnin, was known for the movie Bagets.
Charlene has Spanish roots. She went to Bishop Amat Memorial High School in La Puente, California, and finished in 1992. Later, she earned a degree in BS Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas.
On May 28, 2001, she married Filipino actor Aga Muhlach. They have twin children, Andrés Antonio and Atasha Aaron, who were born on November 5, 2001.
Pageant Journey
Charlene Gonzales won the Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1994 title. This allowed her to represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 1994 pageant. The event took place in Manila. She was recognized with the Best National Costume award. She also reached the Top 6 finalists.
During the competition, the host asked her about the number of islands in the Philippines. Charlene famously replied, "High tide or low tide?" This answer became very memorable.
Showbiz Career Highlights
Charlene has had a successful career in entertainment. She hosted several dance programs, including Eezy Dancing on ABC-5 (1997–1998). She also hosted Keep On Dancing from 1998 to 2001 on ABS-CBN. She was also a host for Viva Television Movies on Viva TV.
One of her popular shows was At Home Ka Dito. This was a Philippine lifestyle program that aired on ABS-CBN. The show was special because it used a reality TV style for its features.
In 1994, Charlene got her first movie role. She starred with Fernando Poe Jr. in the film Epimaco Velasco: NBI. She also appeared in Ben Delubyo with Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. in 1998. Another film she starred in was Resbak with Phillip Salvador in 1998.
