Charles Cooke III (born July 1, 1994) is an American professional basketball player. He is known for playing as a shooting guard. Charles played college basketball for the James Madison Dukes and Dayton Flyers. He last played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA G League.

High School Basketball Journey

Charles Cooke played basketball at the Trenton Catholic Academy in New Jersey. During his junior year, he scored about 6.8 points per game. He also grabbed 0.7 rebounds per game in 23 games. In his senior year, Charles improved a lot. He averaged 14.1 points and 1.0 rebounds per game in 28 games. After high school, he decided to play college basketball for James Madison University.

College Basketball Career

Playing for James Madison

In his first year at James Madison, Charles played 32 games. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He got even better in his second year. He averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. This was across 30 games for the Dukes.

Transferring to Dayton

After his second year, Charles decided to transfer to the University of Dayton. He had to sit out one year before he could play for Dayton. In his first season with Dayton, he played 32 games. He averaged 15.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.

Senior Year Success

In his final year at Dayton, Charles continued to play well. He averaged 15.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. He played in 29 games that season. Professional Basketball Career

Starting in the NBA G League

After college, Charles Cooke was not chosen in the 2017 NBA draft. However, he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2017 NBA Summer League. He averaged 10 points and 3 rebounds per game there. On August 2, 2017, Charles signed a special "two-way contract" with the New Orleans Pelicans. This meant he would play for both the Pelicans and their minor league team. That team was the Greensboro Swarm in the NBA G League. He made his first NBA game appearance on October 28, 2017. He scored two points in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Moving to Other Teams

In October 2018, Charles signed with the Miami Heat. He played one preseason game but was later waived. He then joined the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In March 2019, he signed a short 10-day contract with the Miami Heat again. He was immediately sent back to play for the Skyforce.

Playing Overseas and in Canada

In August 2019, Charles played for De' Longhi Treviso in Italy. He later played in Puerto Rico for the Atléticos de San Germán in 2020. In June 2021, Charles signed with the Hamilton Honey Badgers in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. In February 2022, he joined the Maine Celtics in the NBA G League. He was later waived in March 2022. He last played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
