Charles McConalogue (born October 29, 1977) is an Irish politician. He is a member of the Fianna Fáil political party. He has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Donegal area since the 2016 general election. Before that, he was a TD for Donegal North-East from 2011 to 2016. He served as the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine from September 2020 to January 2025. He also worked as a Minister of State for Law Reform for a short time in 2020.

About Charles McConalogue's Early Life
Charles McConalogue studied economics, politics, and history. He earned his degree from University College Dublin (UCD). Before finishing his degree, he worked as an Education Officer. This was for the UCD Students' Union.
After college, he worked for the Fianna Fáil party in Dublin. When his father passed away, he went back home. He took over managing the family farm. The farm is located near Carndonagh in Inishowen, County Donegal. He grew up near Gleneely, a village in Inishowen. He is married and has two sons.
Charles McConalogue's Political Journey
Charles McConalogue started his political career locally. He was elected to Donegal County Council in 2009. He represented the Inishowen area.
Becoming a Teachta Dála (TD)
In 2011, two Fianna Fáil TDs retired from politics. This left a spot open in Donegal North-East. The party chose McConalogue to run in the 2011 general election. He won enough votes to become a TD. He filled the third and final seat in his area.
After becoming a TD, he took on important roles. From 2011 to 2012, he was the Fianna Fáil spokesperson for Children. In July 2012, he became the party's spokesperson for Education and Skills.
Re-election and New Roles
In the 2016 general election, the election areas changed. McConalogue ran in the new Donegal area. He received the most votes and was elected quickly.
He also helped with talks to form the government in 2016. On July 1, 2020, he became a Minister of State at the Department of Justice. His job was to work on law reform. Later, on September 2, 2020, he became the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. This position became available due to a vacancy.
Health and Re-appointment
In December 2020, McConalogue tested positive for COVID-19. This happened after he returned from Brussels. All government ministers had to limit their movements. He had no symptoms and isolated at home in Donegal.
In March 2022, he planned to travel to Canada. However, another positive COVID-19 test stopped him. He was able to attend the St. Patrick's Day parade in Buncrana after his isolation.
On December 17, 2022, he was re-appointed as Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. This happened after Leo Varadkar became Taoiseach (Prime Minister).
In the 2024 general election, McConalogue was re-elected as a TD. However, he was not re-appointed as a senior cabinet minister in January 2025.
