Charlie Spikes (born January 23, 1951) is a former American baseball player. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). His career in MLB lasted from 1972 to 1980. He played for four different teams during this time. Charlie also played a short time in Japan in 1981. People sometimes called him "the Bogalusa Bomber." This was because he was from Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Charlie Spikes' Baseball Journey
Charlie Spikes started his professional baseball journey early. He was chosen by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 1969 Major League Baseball Draft. This meant he was one of the top young players picked that year.
Starting in the Major Leagues
Charlie made his big league debut with the Yankees in 1972. This was a very exciting moment for him. After playing for the Yankees, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians. This trade happened in November 1972. He moved to the Indians along with a few other players.
His Best Season
Charlie Spikes had his best season in 1974. He was playing for the Cleveland Indians then. That year, he hit for a .271 batting average. He also hit 22 home runs. Plus, he brought in 80 runs for his team. He continued to play for the Indians until the end of the 1977 season.
Moving to New Teams
After his time with the Indians, Charlie was traded again. He went to the Detroit Tigers in December 1977. He played for the Tigers for one season. Later, he joined the Atlanta Braves. He played for the Braves from 1979 to 1980.
Playing in Japan
In 1981, Charlie Spikes tried playing baseball in Japan. He joined the Chunichi Dragons team. He played 26 games for them. After that, he finished his professional baseball career.
