Charlotte Crutchfield (born December 8, 1963) is an American politician from Maryland. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Currently, she represents District 19 in Montgomery County as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates.

Early Life and Career of Charlotte Crutchfield
Charlotte Crutchfield was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 8, 1963. She went to Howard University and earned a degree in economics in 1986. Later, she studied law at the Boston College School of Law, finishing in 1989.
After law school, she worked as an assistant state's attorney for Montgomery County from 1991 to 1992. This means she helped the government in legal cases. From 1996 to 2002, she was a lawyer for Gulfstream Aerospace, a company that makes airplanes. Today, she works as a lawyer specializing in employment law. This type of law deals with rules for workers and employers.
Charlotte Crutchfield's First Political Campaigns
Charlotte Crutchfield first tried to become a member of the House of Delegates in 2014. She came in fourth place in that election. She was very interested in running again in 2018. She officially entered the race on January 10, 2018. In the Democratic primary election, she finished second, which helped her move forward to the main election.

Charlotte Crutchfield officially became a member of the Maryland House of Delegates on January 9, 2019. The House of Delegates is part of Maryland's state government. It is where new laws are discussed and voted on.
When she joined, she made history. Along with Jheanelle Wilkins and Pamela Queen, she was one of the first Black women to be elected from Montgomery County to the House of Delegates.
Advocacy and Important Actions
On May 20, 2020, Delegate Crutchfield wrote a letter to Governor Larry Hogan. She asked him to consider releasing Eraina Pretty, a woman who had been in prison for a very long time. Ms. Pretty had become sick with COVID-19. Crutchfield argued that Ms. Pretty was not a danger to society. A judge in Baltimore later agreed, and Ms. Pretty was released on December 14, 2020.
