Chase Township is a small community in Lake County, located in the state of Michigan, USA. It's a type of local government area called a civil township. In 2020, about 1,153 people lived here.
The main town in the township is also called Chase. It's not an official city, but it's where most people live. Both the community and the township were named after Salmon P. Chase. He was a very important judge, the Chief Justice of the United States, when the area was first settled in the 1860s. The community was first known as "Greendale." A post office was officially opened in Chase in March 1872. For a short time, until 1874, Chase was even the main government center for Lake County. The community began to grow in 1869 when Charles Joiner built a sawmill and other factories there.
