Château Laroche, also known as the Loveland Castle, is a unique museum. It sits by the Little Miami River in Loveland, Ohio, United States. This amazing building looks just like a Medieval castle!

Construction started in 1927. A man named Harry D. Andrews began building it. He was a Boy Scout troop leader and a veteran of World War I. He also loved studying the Middle Ages.

Andrews got the land for his castle by paying for newspaper subscriptions. He named his castle after a military hospital in France. This hospital was called the Château de la Roche. Andrews was stationed there during World War I. The name "Château Laroche" means "Rock Castle" in French.

Building a Dream Castle

Harry Andrews worked on his castle project for over fifty years. He started by pulling stones from the nearby Little Miami River. When those stones ran out, he got creative. He made his own bricks using cement and quart milk cartons as molds.

The Knights of the Golden Trail

When Andrews passed away in 1981, he left the castle to his Boy Scout troop. This troop was called the Knights of the Golden Trail (KOGT). The KOGT has continued to care for and improve the castle since then. They have done many upgrades and renovations.

Castle Upgrades and Features

The East tower of the castle now has a short video. This video tells the story of Andrews' dream to finish his castle. The walls of the upstairs chapel are special. They feature many stones that Andrews brought back from his travels around the world. Other stones were sent to him by friends from different countries. Recently, the outside gardens have been expanded. A new greenhouse has also been completed.

Castle Mysteries and Tales

Over the years, there have been many stories about the castle being haunted. These tales often come from the volunteer knights who work at Château Laroche.
