Chavaughn Lewis (born February 1, 1993) is an American professional basketball player. He is known for his impressive scoring and defensive skills on the court. He played college basketball for the Marist Red Foxes, where he became the team's all-time leading scorer. After college, he started his professional career in Lithuania and has since played for teams in Poland, Estonia, Russia, and Israel. As of July 2025, he plays for Astros de Jalisco.

High School Basketball

Chavaughn Lewis was born in Queens, New York. He attended St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York. During his senior year in 2011, he was an amazing player. He averaged 24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks per game.

His team had an incredible season, winning 28 games in a row. They made it all the way to the state finals for Class A. St. Mary's finished the season with a fantastic 29–1 record. Chavaughn was recognized as one of the best players in New York State.

After high school, Chavaughn received offers from several top college basketball programs. He decided to play for Marist College.

College Basketball Achievements

Chavaughn Lewis had a very successful college career playing for the Marist Red Foxes.

Freshman Year Success

In his first year, Chavaughn quickly showed his talent. He was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team. He averaged 14.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. He scored 460 points that season, which was a new record for a Marist freshman player.

Sophomore Year Highlights

During his second year, Chavaughn started every game. He averaged 16.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2 steals per game. He was the team's top scorer and led the entire conference in steals. He scored a career-high 30 points in one game and also grabbed 16 rebounds in the same game. Because of his great performance, he was named to the All-MAAC Third Team.

Junior Year Milestones

Before his junior year, Chavaughn was chosen as a team captain. He continued to excel, averaging 17.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. In November, he reached a huge milestone by scoring his 1,000th career point. By March, he had scored over 1,500 points! He led his team in scoring, assists, and steals, and once again led the conference in steals. He was named to the All-MAAC Second Team.

Senior Year Records

In his senior year, Chavaughn was again a team captain. He had 18 games where he scored 20 or more points, and two games where he scored over 30 points. He set a new personal best by scoring 35 points in a single game in February 2015. He finished his college career with an amazing 2,119 points. This made him the all-time leading scorer in Marist basketball history! He was named to the All-MAAC Second Team and the NABC All-District Second Team.

Professional Basketball Career

After his outstanding college career, Chavaughn Lewis began his professional basketball journey.

Early Professional Years (2015-2020)

In 2015, Chavaughn was invited to play for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2015 NBA Summer League. This was a great chance to show his skills to NBA teams.

He then started his professional career in Lithuania with the team Juventus Utena. He played well, averaging 10.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in the regular season. He also played in the 2015–16 FIBA Europe Cup, where he averaged 11.1 points and 2.2 steals per game.

In 2016, Chavaughn played for the Detroit Pistons in the 2016 NBA Summer League. After that, he signed with Czarni Słupsk in Poland. He averaged 14.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. The next year, he joined Start Lublin, another Polish team. There, he had his best scoring year, averaging 20.1 points per game!

His strong play in Poland caught the attention of Kalev/Cramo, a team that plays in the VTB United League and the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. For the 2018–19 season, Chavaughn joined Kalev/Cramo. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 assists, and led the VTB United League with 2.1 steals per game.

In 2019, he played for Nizhny Novgorod and then BC Enisey, both in the VTB United League. In October 2020, he returned to play for Kalev/Cramo.

Recent Professional Years (2021-Present)

On August 9, 2021, Chavaughn signed with Hapoel Galil Elyon in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. During the 2021-22 season, he averaged 11.6 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

In the summer of 2022, Chavaughn Lewis joined Ironi Kiryat Ata, also in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played with them until 2025. As of July 2025, he is playing for Astros de Jalisco.
