Plot Summary
The story of Cheias de Charme is about three housekeepers. Their names are Maria da Penha, Maria Aparecida (Cida), and Maria do Rosário. Through a mix of luck and their own talents, they change their lives.
Penha's Story
Penha is a hardworking 34-year-old woman. She raised her younger siblings, Alana and Elano, because their parents left them. Penha is married to Sandro, who doesn't like to work. They have a young son named Patrick. Penha works as a housekeeper for a famous singer named Chayene. Chayene is a mean woman who treats her employees badly. One day, Chayene hurts Penha after Penha accidentally burns her dress. Penha decides to report Chayene to the police.
Rosário's Story
Rosário loves to cook, but her real dream is to become a singer. She is a big fan of the singer Fabian. She finally gets to go to one of his concerts, but she gets into trouble. Fabian's bodyguards take her to the police station. There, Rosário meets Inácio. He is a simple man who looks exactly like Fabian. Because of this, Inácio doesn't like Fabian. Inácio often gets confused with the singer by his excited fans. Rosário starts to like Inácio. But Inácio just wants a quiet family life and doesn't support Rosário's dream of being a singer.
Cida's Story
Cida is a 19-year-old girl. She lives with her godmother, Valda, in the house where they work. Their employer is Sônia, a rich woman married to Ernani. Sônia has two daughters, Ariela and Isadora. Cida's mother, Dolores, used to be Sônia's housekeeper before she passed away. Cida and her godmother work as housekeepers and are treated very poorly by Sônia and her daughters. Cida also gets into trouble and ends up at the police station.
The Empreguetes Form
Penha, Cida, and Rosário all meet at the police station. They quickly become friends and decide to help each other. They make a promise to change their lives. Rosário starts working at Chayene's house in Penha's place. Penha gets a new job working for Lygia, a kind lawyer. Cida falls for Conrado Werneck, a rich man. He doesn't know she is a housekeeper at first. When Isadora, Sônia's daughter, returns from a trip, Conrado finds out the truth. Isadora is mean and jealous. She plans to break up Cida and Conrado and marry him herself. She succeeds, and Conrado and Isadora get married. Even though Conrado likes Cida, he marries Isadora to please his father. Cida suffers a lot from Sônia and Isadora, who constantly make her feel bad.
One day, Rosário calls Penha and Cida to Chayene's house while Chayene is away. The three friends decide to have some fun. With help from Kleiton, they create a song called "Vida de Empreguete" (Life of a Housekeeper). They film a music video using Chayene's clothes. The video becomes a huge hit! They decide to form a band called "Empreguetes." They write more songs like "Marias Brasileiras" and "Forro das Curicas."
Rising to Fame
The Empreguetes become more and more successful. This excites a music manager named Tom Bastos. Fabian also takes notice and tries to cause problems between Rosário and Inácio. The Empreguetes' success also makes Chayene very jealous. With the help of her own housekeeper, Socorro, Chayene becomes obsessed with the trio. She tries everything she can to hurt them.
As the Empreguetes become famous, Chayene's own career goes downhill. She often gets into trouble, but her assistant, Laércio, always helps her find a way out. Chayene's lack of success is often because of the harm she tries to cause the Empreguetes.
Surprising Twists
After Penha, Rosário, and Cida become popular, some surprising things happen. Valda, Cida's godmother, tells Ernani Sarmento that Cida is his daughter. This happens after Ernani loses all his money when his company fails. Cida is sad at first, but then happy about this news. She moves in with the Sarmento family, who are now broke. One night, Cida meets Conrado in the kitchen, and he kisses her. Isadora sees them and is very upset. Conrado leaves, but he admits he still loves Cida. Isadora gets very angry. She takes revenge by tearing Cida's clothes and stealing her credit card. She goes shopping with her mother. When Cida finds out, she wants to report them. But Ernani stops her. Instead, Cida makes Isadora and Sônia work as housekeepers.
Cida makes many changes in the house. She makes sure her godmother, Valda, is treated like a guest. Cida moving into the Sarmento house upsets Elano, who is in love with Cida. He thinks she moved there to be with Conrado.
