Chenoweth is a small, quiet place in Ohio, United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community". This means it is a group of homes and perhaps a few businesses. It is not officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it is part of a larger area called Range Township in Madison County. You can find Chenoweth along Ohio State Route 323. It is located between two other small places, McClimansville and Range.

Discovering Chenoweth

Chenoweth is a community that was never "platted." This means it was not officially laid out with streets and building lots. It grew naturally over time. The community is named after an early settler, John Chenoweth. He was a pioneer who helped establish the area.

A Look at Its History

The Chenoweth Post Office was opened on October 12, 1887. This was an important service for the people living there. However, the post office closed on September 15, 1900. Today, mail service for Chenoweth is handled through the nearby Mount Sterling branch.

In 1915, Chenoweth was a small but active place. It had one grocery store where people could buy supplies. There was also a blacksmith shop, which was very important back then. Blacksmiths made and repaired metal tools and horse equipment. The community also had a small group of houses. This shows it was a close-knit neighborhood.
