Cheqollo is an interesting archaeological site located in Peru. Its name comes from the Quechua language, where "Cheqollo" means "nightingale." This ancient place is found in the Cusco Region, specifically in the Cusco Province, within the San Jerónimo District. It lies just north of the town of San Jerónimo.
Cheqollo is important because it has been officially recognized as a National Cultural Heritage site. This means it's a special place that Peru wants to protect and preserve for future generations. The government declared it a heritage site with a special document called Resolucion Directorial Nacional No. 514/ 2003.
