What is the Chevrolet Cruze?
The Chevrolet Cruze is a car built by General Motors' Chevrolet brand. It is available as a four-door sedan or a hatchback. The Cruze is a compact car, which means it's bigger than a small city car but smaller than a large family car. It's a popular choice for many drivers around the world.
How the Cruze Started
The Chevrolet Cruze you see today has an interesting history. Before 2008, there was an earlier, smaller Cruze model. This first version was based on the Suzuki Ignis and was built between 2001 and 2008.
The current, larger Chevrolet Cruze was first introduced in 2008. It was designed to replace another car called the Chevrolet Cobalt. In some places, like Korea, this car was first known as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere. It then became the Chevrolet Cruze for many markets around the world.
Engine and Features
In the United States, the Chevrolet Cruze usually comes with one of two types of engines. These are 4-cylinder engines, which means they have four cylinders working together to power the car.
One option is a 1.8-liter engine, and the other is a smaller 1.4-liter engine. Both of these engines produce about 138 horsepower. Horsepower is a way to measure how powerful a car's engine is.
You can choose between two types of transmissions for the Cruze: a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. A manual transmission means you shift gears yourself, while an automatic transmission shifts gears for you.
In North America, a hatchback version of the Cruze became available in late 2016. This gave buyers more options for how they wanted their Cruze to look and function.
