Chhera Island facts for kids
Chhera Island is a small, special island near St. Martin's Island in Bangladesh. It's also known as Cheradia Island or Cheridia Island. Chhera Island is actually an extension of St. Martin's Island, but it gets separated by the sea when the water level is high.
What is Chhera Island?
Chhera Island is a unique place. It's not always connected to St. Martin's Island. When the ocean's water level is high, called a high tide, the sea covers the path between the two islands. This makes Chhera Island stand alone.
But when the water level is low, during a low tide, you can actually walk to Chhera Island from St. Martin's Island! This walk takes about two and a half hours. Most people prefer to go by motorboat for a quicker trip.
Nature on the Island
Chhera Island is famous for its beautiful Corals. You can find corals all over the island. These are tiny sea animals that build hard, colorful homes. The island also has a small green area where bushes grow.
No one lives on Chhera Island permanently. It's mostly visited by tourists who come to see its natural beauty and enjoy the quiet surroundings. It's a great spot to explore the unique marine life and enjoy the peaceful island atmosphere.
