Chhetan Gurung (Nepali: छेतन गुरुङ; 5 February 1979 – 9 September 2020) was a talented film director and writer from Nepal. He was well-known for his work in Nepali cinema, which means movies made in Nepal.
Chhetan Gurung wrote the stories for several popular Nepali films. These include November Rain (2014), Classic (2016), and A Mero Hajur 3 (2019). He also wrote and directed a movie called Prem Geet 3. His first time directing a film was with Damaru Ko Dandibiyo in 2018. Sadly, he passed away on 9 September 2020 due to health issues. His last film, Prem Geet 3, was released after his death.

Chhetan Gurung's Film Journey
Chhetan Gurung started his career as a writer in 2014 with the movie November Rain. For this film, he won a special award called the NFDC National Film Award for Best Writer. This showed how good he was at creating movie stories!
In 2016, he was nominated for the same award again for his work on the film Classic. This meant his writing was consistently recognized as excellent.
Directing His First Film
In 2018, Chhetan Gurung took on a new role: film director. His first movie as a director was a drama called Damaru Ko Dandibiyo. This film was special because it was about Dandi Biyo, which used to be a national game in Nepal.
Chhetan Gurung was very excited about directing this film. He said he wanted to use his experience in the movie industry and learn even more. Damaru Ko Dandibiyo received great reviews from critics, who said he did an amazing job directing it.
Later Works and Challenges
In 2019, Chhetan Gurung wrote the story for the romantic drama A Mero Hajur 3. That same year, he directed a big movie called Prem Geet 3. This film starred popular actors Pradeep Khadka and Kristina Gurung.
Prem Geet 3 was supposed to come out on 10 April 2020. However, its release was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the whole world. In 2020, he was also working on a comedy film called Hututu with producer Santosh Sen.
About Chhetan Gurung's Life
Chhetan Gurung was born on 5 February 1979. He faced some health challenges. On 9 September 2020, he was taken to the Metro Kathmandu Hospital for special care. Sadly, he passed away early that morning.
Film producer Santosh Sen, who worked with Chhetan Gurung, shared that he had been unwell. His final funeral rites were held on 10 September at Swayambhunath. Many people from the Nepali film industry attended to pay their respects, including director Dayaram Dahal, actors Aaryan Sigdel and Pradeep Khadka, and actress Jharana Thapa.
