Children's news program facts for kids
A children's news program is a special kind of news program made just for kids, usually between 6 and 14 years old. Unlike news shows for grown-ups, these programs are designed to be interesting and easy for young people to understand. They are often created by the same teams that make regular news, but they have a very different feel.
Children's news shows pick stories that kids would care about. This means they usually avoid complicated political or business news. Instead, they focus on things like popular culture, music, and television. The way the news is presented is also much lighter and more fun. The language used is simpler, and the graphics and sounds are often very colorful and engaging.
The news presenters on these shows are often younger than those on adult news programs. They act in a more relaxed way, sometimes wearing casual clothes and sitting on chairs instead of behind a big desk. Some presenters who started on children's news shows have later become well-known newscasters or reporters for adult programs.

History of Kids' News Shows
How Children's News Started
No single TV network invented children's news programs. One of the first attempts was by CBS in the United States. In 1971, they aired a series of short news clips for kids called "In the News".
Early Programs Around the World
The first channel to broadcast a regular news segment for children was the BBC in the United Kingdom. This happened in 1972 with a show called John Craven's Newsround. This program avoided the serious political focus of adult news. Instead, it tried to create an "interesting" lineup of stories for young viewers.
In the same year, Sweden's SVT started a weekly news summary program called Barnjournalen (Children's Journal). Later, in 1981, the Netherlands' NOS created its own children's news show called Jeugdjournaal (Youth Journal). These early shows helped set the stage for children's news programs around the world.
