Match of the Day Kickabout

Sportsround was a cool weekly TV show about sports, made just for kids! It was a spin-off from the famous CBBC news programme, Newsround.

This exciting sports magazine show was on air from 2005 to 2010. You could catch it on Friday evenings at 6:30 PM on the CBBC Channel. It also aired on Saturday mornings on BBC Two at 7:25 AM.

Sportsround was special because it was the only TV sports show in the UK made just for children. It often had big sports stars visit, like David Beckham, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Frank Lampard.

The very last episode of Sportsround was shown on 11 December 2010. After that, a new sports show called Match of the Day Kickabout took its place. Match of the Day Kickabout still airs in Sportsround's old Saturday morning slot on BBC Two.

How Sportsround Started

In September 2005, Newsround launched its new spin-off show, Sportsround. It quickly became a popular show for young sports fans.

Broadcasting from Wembley

On Saturday, 19 May 2007, Sportsround made history. It was the first TV show to broadcast live from inside Wembley Stadium. This happened just a few hours before the first FA Cup Final was played there.

New Looks for the Show

In August 2007, Sportsround got a fresh new look. It had new opening titles and a new set. The presenters even sat on a new sofa instead of standing up!

The show relaunched again in October 2008. This time, the presenters would often be out at a real sports event. Their segments would be filmed and shown later that day. A new team of presenters and new features were also introduced.

The Final Episode

Sportsround aired its final show on Saturday, 11 December 2010. The last episode was shown on the CBBC Channel. It featured presenter Ore Oduba, along with reporters Jon Franks and Des Clarke.
