The Story of Chili's
Chili's first restaurant opened in Dallas, Texas, in 1975. It was in a building that used to be a post office! Larry Lavine, the founder, wanted to create a friendly restaurant. He wanted to serve different kinds of tasty hamburgers at good prices.
The restaurant quickly became popular. By the early 1980s, there were 28 Chili's restaurants. They all had a similar look, inspired by the American Southwest.
In 1983, Larry Lavine sold Chili's to Norman E. Brinker. He was a well-known person in the restaurant business.

What's on the Menu?
Chili's serves American food. They also offer Tex-Mex cuisine dishes. These include popular items like shrimp tacos, quesadillas, and fajitas.
Besides their regular menu, Chili's has special menus. These include options for people with allergies. They also have a vegetarian menu. This helps everyone find something they like.
Famous Advertising Jingles
Chili's is famous for its "Chili's (Welcome to Chili's!)" jingle. This song was used in commercials for their baby back ribs. Guy Bommarito wrote the song.
The jingle became very catchy. In 2004, Advertising Age magazine said it was one of the top songs that get stuck in your head. In 2017, the jingle was updated. It was used to advertise Chili's new menu.
In 2008, Chili's made funny ads. They showed a made-up restaurant called "P. J. Bland's." This restaurant had boring, fake food.
In 2017, Chili's changed its menu. They removed about 40 percent of their items. They decided to focus on their most popular dishes. These included burgers, ribs, and fajitas.
