Chilliwack Mountain is a small mountain in British Columbia, Canada. It rises from the flat land next to the Fraser River. This area, called a floodplain, can sometimes get flooded.
The mountain is located in the city of Chilliwack. You can find it on the south side of the Fraser River. It's across from a community called Deroche. Chilliwack Mountain is just west of downtown Chilliwack. It's also east of Greendale, which is a rural area nearby.
What is Chilliwack Mountain Like?
Chilliwack Mountain is mostly covered in trees. It's a natural area close to the city. Even though it's a mountain, it's not very tall. Its highest point is over 340 meters (1115 feet) above sea level.
Development on the Mountain
In the past, people decided to build homes on Chilliwack Mountain. In 1996, the City of Chilliwack Council approved a plan. This plan allowed for new neighborhoods to be built there. The idea was to create a community with about 4,500 people. This would mean building around 1,700 homes.
The plan also made sure to protect the environment. It looked at areas that were sensitive or had tricky ground. This was to make sure any building was done carefully.
