Ramón "Chinggoy" Alonzo (born July 22, 1950 – died October 15, 2017) was a well-known Filipino actor. He performed in plays, movies, and on television. He was recognized for his talent and was even nominated for a FAMAS Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie Ikaw Naman ang Iiyak in 1996.

Chinggoy Alonzo's Acting Journey
Chinggoy Alonzo started his acting career in the theater way back in the 1960s. He was not only an actor but also directed plays. He worked with a theater group called The Company of Players.
He appeared in many movies throughout his career. Some of these films include Dito Sa Pitong Gatang (1992), Sana Pag-ibig Na (1998), and Linlang (1999).
On television, he played many memorable characters. He was Don Ramón, the father of Dingdong Dantes' character in the TV show Sana ay Ikaw na Nga (2002). He also played the father of Iza Calzado's character in the 2006 movie Moments of Love.
Many people remember him as Evades in the popular fantasy series Encantadia. Later, he also appeared in the historical show Indio (2013). His very last TV role was in the drama series Wildflower (2017). In this show, he played Senator Pablo Alcantara.
His Family Life
Chinggoy Alonzo had two sons who also became actors. His son, Ralion Alonzo, works in Hong Kong Disneyland. He performs in different shows there, including a lead role in the Mulan show.
His other son, Shark Alonzo, is a stage actor. Shark played the main character, Troy Bolton, in the play High School Musical (2006). This play was performed at the Ateneo de Manila University's Gonzaga Hall Fine Arts Theater.
His Passing
Chinggoy Alonzo passed away on October 15, 2017. He was 67 years old.
