Jose Sixto "Dingdong" Gonzalez Dantes III (born August 2, 1980) is a famous Filipino actor, filmmaker, and TV host. He is known for playing many different kinds of roles in movies and TV shows. He has won many awards for his acting.

Dingdong became very popular in the early 2000s. He starred in TV dramas like Sana ay Ikaw na Nga (2001) and Twin Hearts (2004). Later, he became even more famous for his role in Marimar (2007) with Marian Rivera.

He also hosted many TV shows. These include StarStruck, Family Feud, Amazing Earth, and The Voice Generations. Dingdong also produces his own films. His company, AgostoDos Pictures, made movies like Rewind (2023). This movie became the highest-earning film in the Philippines. He is married to actress Marian Rivera, and they have two children.

Early Life and School

Jose Sixto Gonzales Dantes III was born on August 2, 1980. His birthplace was Quezon City, Philippines. His parents are Angeline Gonzales-Dantes and Jose Sixto "Jig" Dantes Jr. His father was a commander in the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. Dingdong is the oldest of five children. He has three younger sisters and one younger brother.

He went to San Beda University for a while. Then, he moved to Ateneo de Manila University to finish high school. He continued his studies even while working in showbiz. He studied Business Administration at West Negros University. He finished his college degree in 2014.

In 2006, he joined the Philippine Naval Reserve Command. He was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 2020. He also completed training as a Naval Combat Engineer Officer in 2023.

Dingdong's Career Journey

Dingdong Dantes started his career as a child model. He appeared in several commercials. Later, he joined an all-male dance group called Abztract Dancers. His friend Nathan Dados and cousin Arthur Solinap were also in the group. They often performed on TV shows like Eat Bulaga! and That's Entertainment.

His first movie role was in Shake, Rattle & Roll V in 1994. At 17, he joined GMA Network's youth show T.G.I.S.. He played a character named Iñaki. He was often paired with actress Antoinette Taus. They became a very popular love team in the 1990s. He also appeared in movies like Honey My Love So Sweet and Kiss Mo 'Ko. He was also in the TV show Anna Karenina.

Becoming a Star in the 2000s

In 2001, Dingdong starred with Tanya García in the TV drama Sana ay Ikaw na Nga. They worked together again in the 2003 drama Twin Hearts. He also started hosting TV shows. He hosted beauty pageants like Binibining Pilipinas. He also hosted GMA Network's talent search StarStruck. He also hosted the game show Family Feud.

Dingdong played King Ybrahim in the fantasy TV series Encantadia. In 2007, he played the main role of Sergio in Marimar. His co-star was Marian Rivera. This show made him even more famous.

In 2008, he starred as Fredo in Dyesebel. He also became a model for the clothing brand Bench. In 2009, he played "Cholo" in the Philippine version of the Korean drama Stairway to Heaven. He also took over as the host of Family Feud.

Dingdong started the YesPinoy Foundation in 2009. This foundation helps young people with their education. It also supports children of soldiers who have passed away.

Busy Years in the 2010s

In 2010, Dingdong was part of the TV show Endless Love. He also became a co-host of Party Pilipinas. He won the "Best Drama Actor Award" for Stairway To Heaven in 2010.

In 2011, he starred in the comedy TV series I Heart You, Pare!. He also appeared in the suspense film Segunda Mano with Kris Aquino. This was his first time working with a film company from a rival network.

On May 5, 2014, President Benigno Aquino III appointed Dingdong as a commissioner for the National Youth Commission. He worked there for two years. He resigned in 2016 to support Grace Poe and Leni Robredo in the national elections.

In 2017, he visited Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. He spoke at the graduation ceremony of Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology.

Recent Work in the 2020s

In 2020, Dingdong starred in the Philippine version of the South Korean TV series Descendants of the Sun. He played Capt. Lucas Manalo.

In 2022, he hosted Family Feud again on GMA Network. He also starred in the drama Royal Blood. He hosted The Voice Generations in 2023.

His recent films include Rewind, where he starred with Marian Rivera. He also appeared in Firefly (2023). In October 2023, Dingdong joined the Mowelfund Board of Trustees.

Dingdong Dantes proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Marian Rivera, on her TV dance show on August 9, 2014. They first met while working on the show Marimar in 2007. He had proposed to her once before in Macau in 2012.

Dingdong and Marian got married on December 30, 2014. The wedding took place at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City. Both Dingdong and Marian are popular stars of GMA Network. Because of their success, they are known as the network's "primetime king and queen." Their wedding was even called "The Royal Wedding."

They announced they were expecting their first child in April 2015. Their daughter, Maria Letizia, was born on November 23, 2015. Their second child, Jose Sixto IV (Sixto), was born on April 16, 2019.

Dingdong is related to other actors. His cousins include Carlo Gonzalez, Arthur Solinap, and TV host Bianca Gonzalez-Intal.
