Kristina Bernadette "Kris" Cojuangco Aquino-Yap (born February 14, 1971) is a Filipino television presenter, actress, and film producer. She is known for her roles in movies like Crazy Rich Asians. Kris Aquino has won many awards, including 42 PMPC Star Awards for Television and 10 Golden Screen Awards.

People call her the "Queen of All Media" in the Philippines. She has hosted many talk shows and game shows. She has also starred in several films and TV series. Kris Aquino is the youngest daughter of former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino. Her brother, Benigno Aquino III, was also a President of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016.

Her first movie was Pido Dida: Sabay Tayo. She also starred in popular horror films like Feng Shui and Sukob. These movies were the highest-grossing Filipino films in 2004 and 2006. Kris Aquino is also famous for endorsing many products. She helps raise awareness for important causes like lupus and children's rights. Early Life and Education

Kristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino was born in Quezon City, Philippines. Her parents were Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino and Benigno Aquino Jr.. At that time, her father was a senator during the Ferdinand Marcos government. Kris is the youngest of five children. Her siblings are Maria Elena, Aurora Corazon "Pinky", former President Benigno S. Aquino III, and Victoria Elisa "Viel".

When Kris was a baby, her father was arrested and put in jail. Her mother raised Kris and her siblings. In 1978, when she was seven, Kris spoke at campaign rallies for her jailed father. She even appeared on the front page of The New York Times and the cover of Time Magazine.

Kris spent most of her early school years in the United States. Her family lived there for a while. When she was 12, her father was sadly killed at Manila International Airport. Kris returned to the Philippines and joined rallies against the Marcos government.

After the People Power Revolution in 1986, which ended the 21-year rule of Ferdinand Marcos, Kris started her career. As a teenager, she appeared as a guest on TV dramas, comedies, and talk shows. Her first movie, Pido Dida, was a big hit. She also starred in films based on real-life events, which made her very popular.

Kris also hosted the Philippine version of Deal or No Deal. She even appeared on the US version of the show in 2008. She hosted Boy & Kris with Boy Abunda. She also hosted Wheel of Fortune. In 2014, she returned to The Buzz.

From 2011 to 2016, Kris hosted Kris TV. This was a lifestyle talk show that aired on ABS-CBN. In 2011, she also hosted the Filipino version of The Price is Right.

Film Appearances

Kris Aquino began her movie career with Regal Films. Her first film was Pido Dida: Sabay Tayo (1990). She starred in its sequels too, which made her a "box office queen." She later acted in films based on true crime stories, like The Vizconde Massacre Story.

In 2002, she won her first supporting actress award for Mano Po. She played a quiet and obedient daughter in a rich Filipino-Chinese family. In the 2004 film So... Happy Together, she starred with Eric Quizon.

Other notable films include Feng Shui (2004). This horror film earned P137 million, making it the highest-grossing Filipino movie of 2004. Health Journey

Since 2022, Kris Aquino's health has faced challenges. In 2018, she was diagnosed with chronic spontaneous urticaria. This happened after she had tests in Singapore. In May 2022, Kris shared that she has a serious health condition. She also has autoimmune thyroiditis and vasculitis.

In June 2022, she announced her diagnosis of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis. She moved to the United States to get treatment for her condition. As of October 2023, Kris Aquino lives in Orange County, California.

In February 2024, Kris shared more about her health. She revealed that her hemoglobin count was low. She also has a butterfly rash from a fifth autoimmune disease. She suffers from fluctuating blood pressure and swollen joints. In September, she returned to the Philippines for more treatments for her six autoimmune conditions.

Personal Life

Kris Aquino has two sons. Her first son was born in 1994 from her relationship with actor Phillip Salvador.

On July 10, 2005, Kris married PBA basketball player James Yap. In April 2007, she gave birth to her second son, James Carlos "Bimby" Aquino Yap Jr..

In 2010, Kris announced that she and James Yap had separated. Their marriage was declared null and void in February 2012.

In October 2021, Kris announced her engagement to former politician Mel Senen Sarmiento. However, in January 2022, they decided to call off their engagement. In June 2024, Kris and her son Bimby confirmed that she is in a new relationship with Dr. Michael Padlan.

Business Ventures

Besides her TV and movie career, Kris Aquino also owns and manages several businesses. She co-owns Lena Restaurant and Sencillo, a Mexican restaurant. She also co-owns Roberto Antonio, a fancy flower shop, with her business partner Boy Abunda.

She also started a boutique and agency called MAD. This name comes from the first letters of the surnames of the partners. Kris also co-owns Sierra Madre Water. She owns several fast food franchises like Jollibee and Chowking. She also owns Nacho Bimby, a company named after her youngest son.

Kris is also the executive editor of a magazine called K! The Kris Aquino Magazine. In December 2009, she launched her home collection called K Everyday. This collection includes cooking items, kitchenware, and stationery.

In 2013, Kris Aquino started her own film and television production company called Kris Aquino Productions (or K Productions).

Star Cinema, one of the biggest movie companies in the Philippines, manages K Productions. Star Cinema has produced many of the highest-grossing Filipino films. K Productions' first movie was Instant Mommy starring Eugene Domingo. Kris also produced her son's first movie, My Little Bossings, in 2013.

Before starting her own company, she had already co-produced Star Cinema films where she starred. These include Dalaw (2010), Segunda Mano (2011), and Sisterakas (2012).
