Early Life and Soccer Journey

Chioma Ubogagu was born in London, England. Her parents, Tina and Aloy, moved there from Nigeria for work. When Chioma was three, her parents separated. She then moved with her mother and older brother to Coppell, Texas, a suburb near Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.

High School and Club Success

Chioma was a star player in her youth. She led her club team, D'Feeters, to win two Texas-North State Cup titles. Her team also won a U.S. Youth Soccer Association Region II championship. In 2010, they finished third nationally in the U-17 category.

She also helped Coppell High School win the 2009 Texas 5A state title. Chioma was named the 2010 Gatorade Texas Player of the Year. She was also chosen as an All-America player multiple times by ESPN RISE and the NSCAA. Parade magazine also named her an All-America player twice.

College Career at Stanford

Chioma was considered the top-ranked recruit in the nation when she joined Stanford University. In her first year, 2011, she was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. She helped Stanford win their first Women's College Cup. She was even part of the all-tournament team.

Stanford reached the final again in 2012 and the semifinal in 2014. Chioma played in 89 college games and scored 27 goals. She was named to the All-Pac-12 team in all four of her college seasons. She earned first-team honors in 2012 and 2014.

Playing for Arsenal

In January 2015, the National Women's Soccer League team Sky Blue FC chose Chioma in their draft. However, Chioma was already talking with a club in England. In February 2015, she signed with Arsenal, a team she had supported since she was a child. Her British birth made it easier for her to play there.

Chioma made her first professional appearance on April 3, 2015. She scored a goal in a 1–1 draw against Notts County.

Time with Houston Dash

Arsenal released Chioma in November 2015 when her contract ended. She had scored seven goals in 21 games for them. The Houston Dash then got her playing rights from Sky Blue FC. This allowed the Dash to sign her before the 2016 NWSL season began.

Chioma was named NWSL Player of the Week in the fourth week of the 2016 season. She scored one goal and made one assist, helping Houston win 2–1 against FC Kansas City.

Joining Orlando Pride

On January 23, 2017, the Orlando Pride traded for Chioma from the Houston Dash. In 2017, Chioma played in 19 games for Orlando and scored 4 goals. On February 16, 2018, Orlando Pride announced they had signed her to a new contract. On August 29, 2019, Chioma left Orlando Pride to play in Europe.

Loan to Brisbane Roar

On October 5, 2018, Brisbane Roar announced they had signed Chioma for the 2018–19 W-League season. She joined her Orlando Pride teammate Carson Pickett there on loan. She scored her first goal for the team on November 29, 2018, in a 1–0 win over Newcastle Jets. She finished the season with 2 goals.

Moving to CD Tacón/Real Madrid

On August 31, 2019, Chioma joined the Spanish team CD Tacón. This team later became Real Madrid.

Playing for Tottenham Hotspur

On July 31, 2021, Chioma signed a two-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur. She returned to playing in October 2022 after a break. She left the club at the end of the 2022–23 season. She played 27 games for Tottenham and scored one goal.

Return to Dallas Trinity

After her time with Tottenham, Chioma returned to the United States for medical treatment. She made her return to professional football in July 2024. She signed with Dallas Trinity for the first USL Super League season.

Chioma played her first game for Dallas on August 18, 2024. It was Dallas's first-ever match, a 1–1 draw against Tampa Bay Sun FC. She also made the first assist in the club's history. On September 13, 2024, she scored two goals in a home game against Lexington SC. This made her the first player in the club and league to score two goals in one game. Her performance helped Dallas win their first game ever, 6–2.

International Career

Chioma could have played for Nigeria, England, or the United States because of her parents and where she was born. She chose to play for the United States youth teams first. She played for their under-18, under-20, and under-23 teams.

Youth International Play

With the U-20 team, she won the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She played in all six games and scored one goal. She also won the 2012 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship, where she scored the winning goal in the final game. In 2012, she scored six goals in eight games at one point.

Chioma was called up to the United States Women's National Team on October 31, 2017. This was for two friendly games against Canada in November. However, she did not play in either game for the senior team.

Playing for England

Phil Neville, the coach for England, called Chioma up to the England national team in November 2018. This was for friendly games against Sweden and Austria. She scored a goal in her very first game for England, a 3–0 win against Austria on November 8, 2018.

Chioma was given the legacy number 210 by the FA. This was to honor the 50th anniversary of England's first international game.

Personal Life

Chioma's grandfather, Austin Eneuke, was also a football player. He played for Nigeria and Tottenham Hotspur. Chioma became a fan of Arsenal, even though her father wanted her to support Tottenham. She enjoyed watching the North London derby games.
