Early Life and Work

After finishing school, Chip Wadena served his country in the United States Army. This experience helped shape his leadership skills. Later, he worked at the American Crystal Sugar Company and also in construction, gaining valuable experience in different fields.

Leading the White Earth Nation

Chip Wadena became a very important leader for the White Earth Indian Reservation. He first served on the tribal council, which is like a local government for the tribe. His dedication led him to become the chairman of the tribal council. He held this top leadership role for a long time, from 1976 to 1996.

Helping the Community Grow

As tribal chairman, Chip Wadena worked hard to bring new opportunities and growth to his community. One of his significant achievements was helping to start the Shooting Star Casino on the reservation. This project was important because it created jobs for many people and helped bring money to support the programs and services of the White Earth Nation.

A Life of Service

Chip Wadena passed away on June 24, 2014, in Fargo, North Dakota. He is remembered for his long service and his efforts to improve life for the Ojibwe people of the White Earth Nation.
