Naytahwaush (pronounced NAY-tə-wawsh) is a small community in Mahnomen County, Minnesota, in the United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area the government counts for population, but it's not an officially organized city or town. In 2020, about 504 people lived there.
Geography
Naytahwaush is located in the eastern part of Mahnomen County, Minnesota. It is part of Twin Lakes Township. The community is situated on the northern side of North Twin Lake.
If you travel by road, Naytahwaush is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east-southeast of Mahnomen. Mahnomen is the main town and county seat. Naytahwaush is also about 4 miles (6.4 kilometers) south of Minnesota State Highway 200.
The CDP covers a total area of about 3.3 square miles (8.5 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 2.9 square miles (7.5 square kilometers), is land. The remaining 0.4 square miles (1.0 square kilometer) is water, including part of North Twin Lake. The water from North Twin Lake flows into the Wild Rice River. This river then leads west to the Red River of the North.
