Choctál was a special American ice cream company famous for its "single-origin" flavors. This means that for each type of ice cream, the main ingredient came from just one specific place in the world. This is similar to how some special coffees are made.

The company made four unique chocolate flavors and four unique vanilla flavors. Each one got its special taste from the single variety of cacao or vanilla beans used to make it. This created much more interesting and complex flavors than most ice creams. Choctál's ice cream was sold in pints and small single-serving cups. The company's main office was in Pasadena, California, but the ice cream was made in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. It was made without artificial additives, eggs, or gluten.

Choctál was also a member of One Percent for the Planet, a group of companies that donate part of their sales to help the environment.

The Story of Choctál

The name Choctál comes from the ancient Aztec word Xocolatl. This was the name of a special chocolate drink made from cacao beans that was important to the Aztec people.

The company first appeared in 2007 at a large food show. After a change in ownership, the brand was started up again in 2014. However, after a few years, the company announced it was closing down in December 2017.

Flavors from Around the World

Choctál's ice cream was all about location. The cacao beans for the chocolate and the vanilla beans for the vanilla were sourced from different countries, giving each flavor a one-of-a-kind taste.
