Choi Ji-woo (Hangul: 최지우) is a famous South Korean actress. She was born Choi Mi-hyang on June 11, 1975. Choi Ji-woo is well-known for her amazing acting in many popular TV shows. Some of her most famous dramas include Beautiful Days (2001), Winter Sonata (2002), and Stairway to Heaven (2003). She has also starred in romantic comedies like Twenty Again (2015).

Her Acting Journey
Starting Out: 1994–1998
Choi Mi-hyang began her acting journey in 1994. She won a talent audition held by MBC, a big TV company in South Korea. Her first acting role was in a TV show called War and Love in 1995. After this, she chose her stage name, Choi Ji-woo.
She got her first main role in the 1996 movie The Gate of Destiny. In the years that followed, Choi Ji-woo acted in many TV dramas and films. She became very popular for playing kind and innocent characters. Two of her notable TV roles were in Truth and Beautiful Days.
Becoming a Star: 2002–2012
In 2002, Choi Ji-woo starred in the TV drama Winter Sonata. This show became a huge hit across Asia. It helped start the "Korean Wave", which is when South Korean pop culture became popular worldwide. Because of Winter Sonata, Choi Ji-woo became famous all over Asia. In Japan, fans even called her Ji-woo Hime, meaning "Princess Ji-woo." She and her co-star later voiced their characters for an animated version of Winter Sonata.
After the success of her 2003 drama Stairway to Heaven, Choi Ji-woo tried acting in more movies. She also acted in TV shows in other countries, like the Chinese drama 101st Proposal and the Japanese drama RONDO. In 2007, she returned to Korean TV in Air City, where she played a manager at Incheon Airport.
In 2009, she starred in Star's Lover, playing a famous actress who falls in love with an ordinary person. That same year, she started her own management company. She also appeared in the movie Actresses, where she played herself.
Choi Ji-woo wanted to try new types of roles. In 2011, she starred in the romantic comedy Can't Lose. She said she wanted to be known as a "romantic comedy queen" instead of just a "melodrama queen." She also hosted a food show called Choi Ji-woo's Delicious Korea in 2012. This show helped share Korean food and culture with the world. Recent Work: 2014–Present
In 2014, Choi Ji-woo joined a new talent agency, YG Entertainment. She then reunited with her Stairway to Heaven co-star in the drama Temptation.
In 2015, she joined the travel reality show Grandpas Over Flowers. On the show, she traveled through Greece with older actors. This was followed by the TV series Twenty Again. In this show, she played a shy 38-year-old mom who goes to college for the first time with her son. Her acting in this role was highly praised.
In 2016, Choi Ji-woo returned to movies with Like for Likes. She also starred in the legal drama Woman with a Suitcase. In 2017, she acted in the family drama The Most Beautiful Goodbye. She also made a special appearance in the popular drama Crash Landing on You in 2019.
Her Life Outside of Acting
Choi Ji-woo studied aerobic dance in college. She also started studying theater and film at Hanyang University. However, she had to stop her studies because her acting schedule was very busy.
Choi Ji-woo got married on March 29, 2018. She kept her marriage private and only announced it a few hours before the wedding. She welcomed her first child, a daughter, on May 16, 2020.
