Chris Anker Sørensen (born 5 September 1984 – died 18 September 2021) was a Danish road bicycle racer. He rode professionally from 2005 to 2018 for several teams. After his racing career, he became a directeur sportif, which is like a team manager, for his last professional team.

Chris Anker Sørensen's Cycling Career
Chris was born in Hammel, Denmark. In 2008, he showed great skill in the Tour of Austria, finishing fourth overall. Soon after, he represented Denmark in the 2008 Olympic road race. He finished in 12th place, which was a strong result.
In 2010, Chris won Stage 8 of the Giro d'Italia. The Giro d'Italia is one of the biggest cycling races in the world.
During the 2012 Tour de France, Chris finished 14th overall. He also received the super-combativity award. This award is given to the rider who shows the most fighting spirit and attacks often during the race. He was known for his attacking style in mountain stages.
In 2015, Chris announced he would join a new team for the 2016 season. His role would be to help his teammate, Eduardo Sepúlveda, in major races called Grand Tours.
Chris decided to retire from professional cycling at the end of the 2018 season.

After he stopped racing, Chris became a cycling commentator for TV 2 (Denmark). He shared his knowledge and passion for cycling with viewers from 2017 until his passing.
Chris Anker Sørensen's Passing
On 18 September 2021, Chris Anker Sørensen passed away after being involved in a cycling accident in Zeebrugge, Belgium. He was there to cover the 2021 UCI Road World Championships, a big cycling event, which was starting the next day.
