College Basketball Career
Chris Crawford played college basketball for four years with the Memphis Tigers. In his third year, 2012–13, he played really well. He scored more points and grabbed more rebounds than ever before. He also made 71 three-point shots.
Chris was named the Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year in 2013. This award goes to the best player who usually comes off the bench.
Professional Basketball Journey
Starting in the NBA D-League (2014–15)
After college, Chris Crawford tried out for the Houston Rockets in the NBA Summer League. He then signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers but was later released.
In November 2014, he joined the Canton Charge. This team is part of the NBA Development League, now called the G-League. It's a league where players can develop their skills. Chris helped the Charge win a record 31 games that season. They made it to the semi-finals of the playoffs. Chris averaged 8.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
Playing in France and Back to the D-League (2015–16)
In July 2015, Chris signed with a team in France called SPO Rouen Basket. He played 14 games for them.
In February 2016, he returned to the Canton Charge in the D-League. He quickly started playing well again, helping his team.
More D-League Action (2016–17)
Chris signed with the Memphis Grizzlies for a short time in 2016. He played in some preseason games but was later released. He then had short stints with the Canton Charge and the Iowa Energy in the D-League.
Success with Beirut Club (2017–19)
In 2017, Chris Crawford signed with Beirut Club in the Lebanese Basketball League. He had a great season, leading his team to the league's Final Four. He averaged 18.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. He signed another one-year deal with Beirut Club in 2018.
Playing in Tunisia (2020–21)
In January 2020, Chris joined US Monastir in Tunisia. This team was part of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). However, the season was stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Later, he played for Club Africain and then Ezzahra Sports, both in Tunisia.
Adventures in Africa and Syria (2021–22)
In March 2022, Chris joined SLAC, a team from Guinea, for the 2022 BAL season. He scored 30 points in his first game! He helped SLAC reach the playoffs. He was the team's top scorer and assist maker, averaging 21.4 points and 4.8 assists per game.
After the BAL season, Chris played for Al Wahda Damascus in Syria. He also joined Patriots BBC in Rwanda for their playoffs. The Patriots finished second in the league that year.
Reaching the BAL Final (2022–23)
In January 2023, Chris signed with AS Douanes, a team from Senegal. This was his third time playing in the BAL. He helped AS Douanes surprisingly reach the 2023 BAL Final. They lost to Al Ahly from Egypt.
Chris was chosen for the All-BAL First Team because of his amazing performance. He averaged 19.0 points and 5.5 rebounds during the season. Later that year, he returned to Beirut Club in Lebanon for a special tournament.
Playing Across North Africa (2023–24)
In September 2023, Chris joined AS Salé in Morocco. They finished second in the Arab Club Basketball Championship.
He then helped Al Ahly Benghazi from Libya qualify for the BAL. He scored an incredible 39 points in a key game!
After that, Chris played for Al Ittihad Alexandria in Egypt. In May 2024, he returned to US Monastir in Tunisia. He led the entire league in assists, with 9.0 assists per game. He was named to the All-BAL First Team for the second year in a row!
Current Team in Burundi (2024–25)
In October 2024, Chris Crawford joined Urunani, a team from Burundi. He is helping them in their qualifying games for the 2025 BAL season.
The Basketball Tournament
Chris Crawford also played in The Basketball Tournament in 2018. He played for Team Memphis State. He averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. His team reached the second round of the tournament.
