Marcus Christopher Crawford (born September 30, 1992) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for Urunani. Chris played college basketball for the University of Memphis. He has played for many teams in Europe and Africa. Chris is known for being chosen for the All-BAL First Team twice.

Chris Crawford: A Basketball Journey
College Days at Memphis
Chris Crawford played basketball for four years at the University of Memphis. After two quiet seasons, he had a fantastic junior year in 2012–13. He scored more points and grabbed more rebounds than ever before. He also made 71 three-point shots and had a great shooting percentage of 39.9%. Because of his great performance, he was named the Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year.
Starting Professional Basketball
First Steps in the D-League
After college, Chris was not chosen in the 2014 NBA draft. However, he joined the Houston Rockets for the 2014 NBA Summer League. He then signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers but was later released. On November 2, 2014, he joined the Canton Charge in the NBA Development League (D-League). This league is like a stepping stone for players hoping to reach the NBA.
In his first year, Chris helped the Charge win a team record of 31 games. They even won their first playoff series against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In 54 games, Chris averaged 8.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
Playing in France and Back to the D-League
On July 28, 2015, Chris signed with SPO Rouen Basket in France. He played 14 games there, averaging 5.5 points. In January 2016, he left the team.
On February 24, 2016, Chris returned to the Canton Charge. He played his first game back, scoring 11 points and giving out nine assists.
More D-League Adventures
In September 2016, Chris signed with the Memphis Grizzlies but was later released. He then rejoined the Canton Charge for a short time. After that, he played for the Iowa Energy in the D-League before being released again in December 2016.
Playing in the Middle East and Africa
Success with Beirut Club
In the summer of 2017, Chris signed with Beirut Club in the Lebanese Basketball League. He had a great season, leading his team to the league's Final Four. He averaged 18.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. He signed another one-year deal with Beirut Club in August 2018.
Time in Tunisia
In January 2020, Chris signed with US Monastir in Tunisia, planning to play in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). However, the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He later joined Club Africain in Tunisia. In March 2021, he signed with Ezzahra Sports.
Across Africa and Syria
In March 2022, Chris joined the Guinean team SLAC for the 2022 BAL season. He scored 30 points in his first game, helping SLAC win. He led his team in points and assists, averaging 21.4 points and 4.8 assists per game. He helped SLAC reach the playoffs.
On May 17, 2022, Chris joined Al Wahda Damascus in the Syrian Basketball League. Later, in August 2022, he joined Patriots BBC in Rwanda. The Patriots reached the league finals but finished second.
Reaching the BAL Finals
In January 2023, Chris signed with AS Douanes from Senegal. He played in his third straight BAL season with them. He helped AS Douanes surprisingly reach the 2023 BAL Final, where they lost to Al Ahly from Egypt. Chris was named to the All-BAL First Team for his excellent play, averaging 19.0 points and 5.5 rebounds.
In June 2023, Chris returned to Beirut Club in Lebanon to help them in the Final Eight of the FIBA West Asia Super League.
New Teams and More Success
In September 2023, Chris joined AS Salé in Morocco. They finished as runners-up in the Arab Club Basketball Championship.
In October 2023, Chris played for Al Ahly Benghazi in the "Road to BAL" tournament. He helped them qualify for the main BAL as the first team from Libya. He scored an amazing 39 points in a key game that secured their spot.
After that, Chris joined Al Ittihad Alexandria in Egypt. In May 2024, he returned to US Monastir in Tunisia. He led the BAL in assists with 9.0 per game and was named to the All-BAL First Team for the second year in a row.
Joining Urunani in Burundi
In October 2024, Chris joined the Burundian team Urunani for their qualifying games for the 2025 BAL qualification. He reunited with his former teammate, Jean Jacques Boissy, there.
The Basketball Tournament
Chris Crawford also played in 2018 for Team Memphis State. He averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. His team reached the second round of the tournament.
