Chris Davenport (born January 4, 1971) is an amazing skier and mountaineer. He is known as one of the world's most skilled big-mountain skiers. Chris grew up in Aspen, Colorado. He has been called one of North America's top skiers and is a two-time extreme skiing world champion!

Chris's Skiing Journey

Chris Davenport started skiing when he was young. He was an alpine downhill racer in school and college. After finishing his studies, he began competing in big-mountain skiing events. He quickly became a champion!

In 1996, Chris won the World Extreme Skiing Championships in Alaska. He continued to be very successful. In 2001, he won his second World Championship at the Red Bull Snow Thrill of Alaska. He also won several other big competitions, like the 24 Hours of Aspen and the New Zealand Heli Challenge. Chris was even awarded the Powder Magazine Reader’s Poll Award multiple times.

Skiing the Highest Peaks

Chris Davenport is famous for his incredible ski mountaineering feats.

Skiing Colorado's 14ers

He was the first person ever to ski all 54 of Colorado's peaks that are over 14,000 feet tall in just one year! This was a huge challenge, combining climbing and skiing down very high mountains.

In 2015, Chris, along with his friends Ted and Christy Mahon, climbed and skied the 100 highest peaks in Colorado. This shows his amazing skill and dedication to ski mountaineering.

Hall of Fame

Chris's achievements have been recognized by the skiing world.

  • In 2014, he was inducted into the United States Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.
  • In 2017, he was also welcomed into the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame.

Skiing Mount Everest

Chris Davenport is one of only a few skiers in the world who have skied on Mount Everest. In May 2011, Chris and his partner Neal Beidleman skied down 2,000 feet of the Lhotse Face on Mount Everest. This is considered one of the most challenging ski descents ever done on that mountain. Chris and Neal even reached the very top of Mount Everest on May 20, 2011.
