Chris Hall, whose full name is Charles Christopher Hall, was born on April 25, 1970. He is a former American football player. He played as a safety (a defensive player who helps stop passes and tackles opponents) in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1992. Chris also played college football at East Carolina University and later for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the World League of American Football (WLAF).

Early Life and Sports

Chris Hall went to Pemberton Township High School. There, he played three different sports: football, basketball, and track.

In his final year of high school, he was a very good football player. He was named a second-team All-state running back. This means he was one of the best running backs in the entire state. He was also an All-conference selection in basketball, playing as a small forward. This shows he was a top player in his basketball league too.

College Football Career

Chris Hall received a special scholarship to play football at East Carolina University. Even though he was first recruited to play as a running back (an offensive player who runs with the ball), he became a defensive player instead.

Halfway through his first year, he became a starter on defense. He played as a cornerback (a defensive player who covers wide receivers). Sporting News magazine even called him one of the best freshman cornerbacks in the country. That year, he caught 3 interceptions (when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player).

In his third year, Chris had 85 tackles, which was the second-highest on his team. He also had 2 interceptions and broke up 8 passes. Breaking up a pass means he stopped the ball from reaching the receiver. He made a career-high 20 tackles in one game against the University of South Carolina.

During his final year, he caught 3 more interceptions. He helped his team have an amazing season with 11 wins and only 1 loss. This was the best record in the school's history. His team was even ranked 9th nationally by the Associated Press. In some games, he had many tackles, like 12 against the University of Illinois and 11 against the University of Pittsburgh.

Chris finished his college career with 9 interceptions and 26 passes defensed. He also recovered 4 fumbles (when a player drops the ball and another player picks it up). His 26 passes defensed set a new school record.

Professional Football Journey

The Dallas Cowboys picked Chris Hall in the ninth round of the 1992 NFL draft. He was the 250th player chosen overall. The Cowboys wanted to change his position from cornerback to safety.

The Cowboys drafted seven defensive back players that year. Chris was released by the team on August 24, 1992. He was signed again by the Cowboys on April 20, 1993, but was released once more on October 13, 1993.

After his time with the Cowboys, Chris Hall played for the Frankfurt Galaxy. This team was part of the World League of American Football (WLAF). He was a star player for the Galaxy, leading or tying for the most interceptions in the league for three different years:

  • In 1995, he had 8 interceptions.
  • In 1996, he had 4 interceptions.
  • In 1997, he also had 4 interceptions.
